Hello Families!
It was wonderful to see so many of you at our open house!  The paw prints were amazing and as the children's first show and tell they will get the chance to share their paw prints with the class!

The children have been working very hard on our "Rules of the Jungle" nice hands, nice feet and nice mouth and are making great progress!  We are very proud of them all!

They have been working on learning the first letter of their names as well as recognizing their names.  Every time the children come to the tables they have to look for their name tag and many of them find their seat without difficulty.  They also had fun decorating their names and projects like this will have them learning without even realizing it!  One of the fun things we have added to our morning group is the name cheer.  Each morning children are called to hold up letters to a friends name.  Once they are all up, we review the letters until we figure out whose name they are holding up.  That child then joins them with a pom pom in hand and the class says a cheer!  Don't worry...we are taking pictures!

The children have also been working very hard on their shape books.  There are many steps to this process and we are moving right along.  First the children draw and then paint the shape we are working on.  When dry they cut it out and are working very hard on their scissor skills.  We can't wait for you to see the finished product!!!

This week we will be celebrating Mother Mary's Birthday on the 8th with a special snack.  Our class will not be attending this Mass but we will soon.  The children are working very hard on sitting still and using their listening ears and when they have accomplished that, we will be attending Mass on the first Friday of every month.

We pray that you enjoy the last days of warm weather that the Lord has blessed us with this year.

Dear Families,

Wow! What a great first week of school!  Your children are learning so much already!  They are learning to stop and freeze when the bell rings and listen for directions.  They are learning how to sit at group as well as finding out all about each of our learning centers.  We are working on our classroom rules, "Rules of the Jungle."  Nice hands, nice feet and nice mouth.  They are doing a great job and we're so proud of them!

A few reminders for the upcoming weeks...School pictures will be taken on Wednesday, Aug. 24th and Thursday, Aug. 25th.  The school picture envelopes must be returned by Aug. 22nd.  Thank you!

If you are interested in becoming our room parent or assistant room parent there is a form in your family envelope that needs to be filled out and returned to school, attn:  Tisha.  There is a meeting in the auditorium at 6:30 pm, August 24th.  Please note that anyone who works in the classroom or is in contact with the children need to be fingerprinted and also need to take a Safe Environment Training Class.  Please see Mrs. Mary for dates and times.

Open House will be Aug. 28th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Tickets are available for a delicious Tri tip and rigatoni lunch for dine in or take out.  $12.00 for adults and $7.00 for children 10 and under.  Mrs. Mary and I hope to see you all here!

As you can see work has begun on the new fencing at OLM School.  Please be careful as you are coming up the sidewalk during this time.  We will eventually have a gate to buzz you in and although this is inconvenient right now, it will all be worth it to keep your children safe.

God bless us all as we begin our 89th year of providing a quality Catholic Education for your children and God bless you for entrusting them to our care.

Hello Families!

Mrs. Mary and I were so happy to see the majority of our new families at our Meet The Teacher night.  Thank you for coming and I hope you all enjoyed your ice cream!

Our theme this year is Jungle Animals.  We are "Wild About Learning" and very much look forward to helping your children grow in their faith, academics and social skills as well as fine and large motor skills.  We will begin the school year off by learning classroom rules, sharing and following directions.

I have a strong belief that the first thing we need to accomplish is your child feeling loved, happy and secure.  Only then will they be ready to tackle academics.  I know some of the children will have a difficult time separating from you, but please know they are in very loving and capable hands.  The easiest way for your child to transition, especially if they are crying and clinging to you, is to hand them over to either Mrs. Mary or myself , reassure them that you will be back to pick them up, give them a kiss and head out the door.  Believe me, I know how hard this will be for you!  We will direct your child to an activity that they enjoy and the majority of the time they are finished crying before you get to the car.  Of course you can always call (209) 722-6657 to check on your child and we will be happy to give you a report.

We believe you are your children's primary educators and look forward to working with you throughout the school year.  If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Mary or myself so together we can resolve any problems that may arise.

May God bless you all during this exciting new school year.

Miss Colcleasure (Miss C.) and Mrs. Mary
